2012



Founded 1902, Fluminense Football Club is Brazil's oldest football club. A rabid supporter, Eduardo Albuquerque was invited in 2012 to become Audiovisual Coordinator and create its audiovisual sector after directing Peter Siemsen's presidential video campaign.

“Decida o Tetr4” was the main marketing campaign which Albuquerque helped create, and was heavily video-based. Its main piece was this national TV ad below, written and directed by him, starring actor Gregório Duvivier and the 2012 Fluminense squad:

Eduardo Albuquerque also directed a short film “featurette” on the “Decida o Tetr4 DVD”, Rede Globo's Official Comemorative DVD of Fluminense Football Club's 2012 national championship win. In it, through a “fly-on-the-wall” approach, Albuquerque documents Fluminense's final game against Palmeiras, and the trip back to Rio de Janeiro, where the players were received by thousands of fans on the street and in the club's stadium.

CONTEXT

After Fluminense was eliminated by Boca Juniors (Argentina) at Copa Libertadores round of 16, Eduardo Albuquerque and colleagues at Fluminense's Football Club Marketing Department felt they needed to create a campaign to make sure Fluminense's supporter would continue to attend Fluminense's games at the national championship tournament. 

To do that, they launched “Decida o Tetr4” (roughly translating “Deciding the fourth” - aluding to Fluminense's fourth national championship; they had 3 up until that year). The campaign revolved around putting Fluminense's supporters at the center of the action; giving them the responsibility and honor to decide Fluminense's fourth national championship. It worked great, attendance rose by 30% and at the end of the year, with 3 games to spare, Fluminense was crowned champion.
