Created by Calvito Leal and Eduardo Albuquerque, “São Jorge” was a TV series sold to O2 Filmes, and Rede Globo (Brazil’s biggest TV Network) in 2010.
An “Any Given Sunday” of the world of soccer, “São Jorge” never got produced; when time came to start filming, Globo thought its “Avenida Brasil” telenovela (that had a character who was a former soccer player) wouldn't benefit from another soccer-centric show. However, its development alone - spearheaded by blockbuster names like Fernando Meirelles, Mauro Mendonça Filho, and Guel Arraes - made waves in the industry at the time. Its thorough “Bible” was the talk of the town, and became a reference for necessary overkill when presenting a TV series universe.
Besides the bible, written by Eduardo Albuquerque and Calvito Leal, three scripts were written by Eduardo Albuquerque along with Patricia Andrade and Nelson Motta.
